La Matriz Sagrada Scholarship

La Matriz Sagrada Scholarship is dedicated to supporting BIPOC pregnant teens, teen parents, and children of teen parents in their pursuit of higher education. This initiative is rooted in empowerment, community, and resilience—deeply inspired by my personal journey as a teen parent.

I became a teen parent at the end of my junior year of high school and, shortly after, a single teen parent. My own parents were teen parents who weren’t able to continue their education, so I knew how important it was for me to pursue my educational goals. Balancing life as a full-time parent, student, and worker, I graduated with multiple degrees, which opened the door to a fulfilling and passionate career in teaching.

I wouldn’t have been able to do this without the unwavering support and encouragement from my community. It’s that same spirit of love and belief in young parents that inspired me to create this scholarship. I want to help others who are walking a similar path to know that they, too, can achieve their dreams.
